We have investigated interaction of a nanosecond 266 nm laser with different glasses (zinc borosilicate, boro-aluminosilicate, borosilicate, fused silica, etc). Single pulse ablation behavior of the glasses at near threshold conditions was studied and the ablated area was measured with interferometry, SEM and AFM techniques. Based on the results we present single pulse ablation thresholds and correlations between ablation thresholds and material absorptions, material compositions and other properties.
