Presented at ICALEO 2012
Japan is certainly one of the leading nations in laser technology and in laser applications. This talk is discussed about Japanese-style of research structures and funding systems, which assure a target-oriented cooperation between fundamental and industrial research in laser-related national projects. Furthermore, the current research program funded by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) and METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) of Japanese government organization is introduced. The national project of Advanced Laser and Processing Technology for Next-generation Materials Project (High-power Pulsed Fiber Laser and Processing Technology Project) was launched in 2010FY. The project period is planned to be five years. Advanced Laser and Process Technology Research Association (ALPROT) was also established in 2010 for promoting effective research in the Project.
