In this talk, I present a single optical element based holographic fabrication of three dimensional woodpile-type photonic crystals and icosahedral quasi-periodic photonic crystals through five-beam and six-beam interferences, respectively. Periodic and quasi-periodic photonic crystal templates were fabricated by exposing a photoresist to the interference pattern. Waveguide structures were fabrication in the photonic crystal templates through the two-photon polymerization excited by a femtosecond laser oscillator in dipentaerythritol penta/hexaacrylate monomers mixed with photoinitiators. The strength of two optical lithographic techniques has successfully been combined with the holographic lithography for a rapid large area nanofabrication and the two-photon lithography for a flexible defect structure fabrication.
