For a reduction of manufacturing time but also for the creation of extended possibilities with innovative applications, known and well-established processes are joined towards one new method. Examples thereof are the HyDRA method (Hybrid Double Rapid Arc), the coupling of the laser beam with two arcs, and the LUPuS method, where the laser beam is coupled with one SA process. Using those methods, the process limits of the conventional hybrid method are extended with regard to the possible gap bridging ability, welding speed and metallurgical influence on the molten metal. Within the scope of this lecture, the special properties and possibilities of the HyDRA and LUPuS processes are specified.
