Fiber lasers for flat bed laser cutting systems open new niche applications where users can take advantage of their high wall-plug to beam output energy efficiency, low maintenance burden, and a leaner manufacturing approach with the elimination of external beam alignment needs for set-up. The increase in output power of fiber lasers also call for the right choice in methods and machines. This paper presents developments of special optics and methods at extreme speed extreme power, for fiber laser-welding applications as well as systems for fiber laser-cutting of blanks components directly from coil strips.
