The recently founded Chair of Photonic Technologies lead by Prof. M. Schmidt has currently 20 research staff members. Due to the close cooperation with the Bavarian Laser Center (blz), the Chair of Photonic Technologies can build on many years of experience in the field of laser material processing. The main areas of research are simulation of laser material processing, ultra short pulsed lasers, medical photonics, laser based additive manufacturing and sensing & control.
