Course Details

Are you an RN, OR supervisor, surgical tech or training coordinator who has been assigned the critical responsibility of Laser Safety Officer (LSO) in a medical facility? Designed to meet the unique needs of medical professionals, LIA's Medical Laser Safety Officer Course will provide the training you need to build and maintain a successful laser safety program.

As an LSO at a medical facility, you have an important set of responsibilities. Not only is laser safety a top priority to protect your staff, but it is critical to protecting your patients. Our MLSO training program addresses the specific laser safety protocols as they relate to medical and healthcare environments.

This course meets all LSO training requirements as outlined by the ANSI Z136.3 - Safe Use of Lasers in Health Care standard, OSHA, and The Joint Commission.

Multiple Formats to Meet Your Needs
We offer this course in a live, in-person format, a live, virtual format, and an on-demand virtual format. Choose the format that best fits your needs. Purchase of the on-demand course provides 30-days of access to our online course content, to allow you the flexibility of learning at your own pace. Purchase of a live course provides you access to a live instructor during the course to answer questions you have about your unique laser safety program.

RNs, OR supervisors, surgical techs, training coordinators or anybody who has been assigned the responsibility of LSO in a medical facility.

All attendees of live courses will receive a course manual, ANSI Z136.3 Safe Use of Lasers in Health Care standard, and a certificate of completion. Following the course, a download link will be emailed providing useful sample documentation for LSOs.

This course meets all LSO training requirements outlined by ANSI, OSHA, and The Joint Commission. In addition to the working knowledge you will gain, you will earn 12 Contact Hours, 1.5 BLS CM Points by the Board of Laser Safety, 12 CECs by the AAHP and eligible for ABIH CM points.

Live Courses:
You may, at any time prior to 10 business days before your course begins, cancel your registration and receive a refund, less an administrative fee of $99. Within 10 business days of the course, the Laser Institute of America will not issue a refund. However, you can reschedule for a future course at no cost as long as you attend within the next 12-month period. Please be aware that if you cannot attend the course and fail to give proper notification prior to your course date you will forfeit your entire course fee.

On-Demand Courses:
On-demand online courses are non-refundable and cannot be transferred once activated.
