Presented at ICALEO 2010

Modern cars have to satisfy low fuel economy at an uncompromised safety level. The use of martensitic boron steels like 22MnB5 in safety relevant components allows to reduce the weight of a car while increasing the passenger safety. Since many years LASERs are the first choice for the trimming process of this material after it has received its final shape. Since the worldwide demand for components made in this process is still on the rise, the need for technological innovations to get more production output is unbroken. This presentation will disclose what advancements modern fiber delivered TruDisk solid state laser offer and when conventional TruFlow CO2 gas laser can make use of their strength.
