A high power, narrow-linewidth, polarized and diffraction-limited green laser has been made from frequency converting a high power IR fiber laser from 1064 nm into 532 nm. The IR fiber laser is based on a 10 MHz 5ns master oscillator and power amplified to reliably produce 150 Watt output power with M2 <1.1. The high electrical-optical efficiency enables air cooling, even at these power levels. More than 60 Watt of green output power has been produced. This MOPA system utilizes single-emitter-based pump diodes that have typical >100,000 hrs of lifetime, an order of magnitude longer than typical pump diodes used in current available DPSS-based green lasers. This fiber-based green laser will be an ideal source for various material processing applications as well as for Ti:Sapphire pumping.
