Presented at ICALEO 2007

Using commercially available picosecond and nanosecond lasers, tests were conducted to compare the drilling performance of each laser through various materials. Experiments were performed to measure and compare conventional percussion drilling performance with the double pulse machining method for both systems. The quality of the hole is considered along with drilling rate to measure the performance of each system.
