Diode lasers have been optimized for maximum electrical-to-optical power conversion efficiency for use as pump source for high-energy solid-state lasers, fiber-lasers, telecommunication fiber amplifiers and industrial lasers. We will discuss modeling and the latest experimental data on 797nm, 808nm, 915 nm and 975 nm diodes resulting from optimization of key parameters that govern power conversion efficiency such as the external differential quantum efficiency, turn-on voltage, threshold current and series resistance.
