The next meeting of the Northeast Regional Chapter of the Laser Institute of America will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 at the Boston University Photonics Center and will feature Laser Applications in MicroFluidics. Chapter History
A group of 50 people were presented with
the idea of forming a Northeast Chapter of the Laser Institute of America during a LIA regional meeting held in Sturbridge, Massachusetts in June of 2005. The response was unanimous that a chapter be
created. The plan is to hold a meeting every other month and rotate the locations between Worcester, Boston, Nashua, Hartford, and New Haven areas to ease the travel burden and to provide the
opportunity to visit various laser related sites within the Northeast. Five regional chairman have volunteered for the first year to get the chapter off and running. They
are:
Bill Shiner from Worcester, MA (chairman)
Ron Schaeffer from Nashua, MA
Bo Gu from Boston, MA
Robert Brown from Hartford, CT
George Andrews from New Haven, CT
The meeting format usually consists of a cocktail hour, dinner, guest speaker and a tour of a facility or research lab, when appropriate. Members will be solicited to ensure that topics of interest
are presented at future meetings. Membership in the Northeast Chapter offers a unique opportunity to meet and network with individuals including end users, manufactures of lasers and related
products, safety officers, company presidents and researchers. Join the LIA
